Apr. 23, 2021
Where did you grow up and where do you call home now?
I grew up In Farrockaway, Queens and I still live in Farrockaway, Queens.
How long have you been making music and who inspired you in the beginning?
Ive been making music since I was in middle school, creating video game inspired rap, but didn't take it seriously until 2017 when I started writing stuff geared toward my mental health. The artists who inspired me at the beginning were XXXTENTACION and SadBoyProlific. 2019 would be the year I actually started recording/releasing music.
What did you do before you were involved in your current music project?
In highschool I joined an audio engineering class where I would meet my teacher who helped me record and release several songs, including my most popular song "Still Breathing?" Now I work with Alexeig for most of my recent releases, and I'm learning to self engineer my own music.
What does your name mean, and what made you decide to be a solo artist?
My artist name Bxpolar (Bipolar) means exactly that. I have BPD. Although I chose to put an X there because it represented the artist that inspired me to start, who was XXXTENTACION.
I wanted to be a solo artist because I always thought I'd be better off doing it alone.
In what genre would you categorize Bxpolar's music?
My genres include emo rap, alternative hip hop, alternative rock, pop punk, spoken word poetry, and boom bap, but I'm always experimenting with new genres!
Who are some other music artists you have been compared to?
I've been compared to Sadeyes, Papitbhk, XXXTENTACION, Chance The Rapper and SadBoyProlific.
Have you done collaborations with other artists? Who are some producers you have worked with?
I've collaborated with artists like D.B.E and Zeroxydeckx. Producers include Alexeig, Eric Reyes, Capsctrl, Crxmson, EddieStackin, and POPPA.
How did you meet the other artists you have collaborated with?
We met through Instagram, the majority of artists I've met/collabed with I have connected with through social media.
Who are some artists you would like to collaborate with?
SadBoyProlific, Ivri, Sadeyes, Billie Eillish, Elohim, and Damien Styles!
How many tracks have you released? What can you tell me about your latest song "Aries"?
I've released 18 singles in total, not including collaborations. My latest song "Aries" was inspired by my love for someone, and how I couldn't find the courage to tell them how I feel about them. I used a beat from Deadthawn, formerly known as Tra$h, and compared to my other songs, it's more raw vocal wise, not a lot of mixing in the song because I wanted it to feel as emotional as I could get it. It took me only 2 days in total to finish writing the song. My favorite track ever would be "Still Breathing?" ft. Shiloh dynasty. That was the first song that semi blew up on youtube last year.
Are there hidden meanings in any of your songs?
There's always usually a doubling meaning or deeper meaning in general in my songs. I love creating a song where you can assume what I mean, but for me I have an exact meaning.
What is the biggest show you have ever played?
My school concert with Pepper Solona and Wyclef Jean's band.
If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?
I'd say Billie Eillish, or the late XXXTENTACION.
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Most likely focusing on photography or social media marketing.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
I would say your mental health is the most important thing to keep track of. Love yourself!
What is one message you want to give to your fans?
Life is too short to give af about peoples opinions.
What's next for you?
As of right now I'm working on new upbeat music compared to my sadder tracks. I'm focusing on alt rock/pop punk music. I'm also planning on doing live shows and one day touring regionally, then a world tour.
