What does the name "Dunbar" mean?
It's our origin of block, where we grew up. Long Island, New York is the home base. The Dunbar Street.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Dunbar can be described as making "Golden Era" Hip Hop. It doesn't sound old, but it gives you that classic feel, nah mean. That 90's feel, hustle music, not more so trap music.
Who are some other artists you have been compared to?
We have been compared to Westside Gunn, Ghostface Killah, majority of the Golden Era Hip-Hop pioneers.
What can you tell us about your latest release "No Hook 3"?
Our latest release No Hook 3 is highly regarded as the most potent and gangster collection of music we have put out yet, sonically, production, arrangement.
What is your favorite song to perform live?
Our favorite song to perform live is "Whippin Water" off of the Narcotics album and "Finish The Line", off of the No Hook 2 album.
What is your creative process like?
Smoke a big blunt, listen to a few beats. Nothing crazy, not breaking the mold, just high and creative in the booth. Sometimes liquor is involved but we try not to let that override the music quality.
Are there hidden meanings in any of your songs?
No hidden meanings, more double-entendres.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Ask questions about anything in life.
