Q&A with Padre Tóxico
How long have you been making music?
I started in November 2019. My awesome friend finally talked me into this. So having no idea what I was doing, I got my music gear. I had fun even while connecting this stuff to my laptop, that was already a challenge. 😉
Do you make music by yourself, or collaborate with other musicians?
Alone, I have a really small amount of time for my passions, that’s why until now I was a one man army. Things will change hopefully soon. For starters, I collaborated with a very talented vocalist/singer named Pri, and on August 7th, 2020, we are dropping our collaboration for Summer in L.A. She has done some magic to that beat.
In what genre would you categorize your music?
I think I create tracks that are from several genres, not going into details, electronica and hip-hop.
What can you tell us about your upcoming album?
I can tell you it will drop on August 24th, 2020. There will be over 12 tracks, with some synthwave, minimal, chillout, ambient, and edm. I hope you will give it a listen!
Who Do You Sound Like?
Like me 😊 hopefully.
How did you all meet?
Well, I was born, and then I heard a voice inside my head. 😊 Since then we are very close.
What first got you into music?
When I first heard Snoop Doggy Dogg, What’s My Name, and Dr. Dre, Keep Their Heads Ringin in my school corridor in the 90s, that was it. I was hooked for life.
What inspired you to make music?
Damn this is a tough question! To keep things short, it was the idea of wanting to give others the same sensations from music that I get. I finally realized this during one of Kiasmos’s live gigs in my country. (Poland) Since then, I knew I wanted to create.
What is one of your favorite albums?
One is impossible! 😊 I can name a few though. 2Pac All Eyez On Me, Dr. Dre The Chronic, Kendrick Lamar Good Kid m.A.A.d. City, and To Pimp A Butterfly, Kiasmo's self-titled LP, Flying Lotus's Los Angeles, and Cosmogramma, and many more I like to return to.
Which one of your songs would you most like to make a video for?
Pri & Padre Toxico – Summer in L.A. of course 😊
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I like to think that listening to music is like listening to someone's thoughts. My music shows what is currently going on in my head. Damn, I think I should go to the doctor! 😉
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I won’t be giving any names as it would be funny. Some dope rappers, I don’t care if they are famous or not, but their flow must have that "something”. Regarding singing, that place is already taken. 😊
What is one message you would give to your fans?
It is never too late to try.
What is the most useless talent you have?
Every talent is a talent.
How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?
It has its pros and cons. The best thing is, you don’t need a label to publish music.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
"You live only once”. That one opens a lot of doors if you think it through. 😊
What’s next for you?
That’s a small surprise. I don’t wanna jinx it now. I need to learn a LOT of things.
What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
